Heir of fire - Sarah j maas (spoilers)

Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas
Released: September 2, 2014
Pages: 576
Heir of fire.  Wow I can not believe everything that happened in this book.  I really loved this book.  I can not believe what I just read.  So much happened.  It is one of my favourite books I read this year. Now I think that it is best to spilt this review into three parts first I will talk about Celaena and Rowan, then Manon and the other Ironteeth Witches and then finally what happened with Chaol and Dorian. Now some of these characters are new but I will le you guys know about them when I reach their parts.

When we saw Celaena she was sent to Wendlyn to assassinate the royal family.  We come to heir of fire, she has arrived and drunk.  She eventually meets fae warrior Rowan Whitethorn. Rowan end up taking Celaena to her aunt Maeve who Rowan is sworn to. Celaena is trying to find the answers about the mysterious Wrydkeys.   Celaena must travel to Doranelle, before she can receive the information.  This is a more difficult than she first believed.  Before Celaena can Doranelle she must prove that she is worthy by Rowan.

Now Rowan, he started out as a jerk.  He seemed scary and angry. He definitely was not impressed about having to train Celaena.  At first Rowan thinks she is just spoiled  and rich, while Celaena finds him rude and  judgmental.   Slowly they soon discover that us not the case and eventually became friends or at least allies.

While I was aware many people really loved Rowan I did not see it at first.  About halfway through I started to see something in Rowan.  At the end I loved their friendship.  I was so glad that Celaena saved Rowan and they each helped the other.

Another new character we met is Manon Blackbeak.  Manon is heir to the Blackbeak witch-clan.  She is ruthless and very determined.  Witches become part of the kings newest plan as the riders of wyverns.  Manon spends a majority of her story trying to prove she has what to takes to become wing  leader.  I ended up really loving her character, especially her interactions with her wyvern Abraxos.   I can not wait till she meets Celaena I feel like those scenes will be priceless.

Coming to Chaol, he spent a majority of the start of the book trying to come to terms with Celaena secret we discovered in Crown of midnight.   She is Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, heir to the Terrasen throne.  Now Chaol must choose whether he will continue to serve a corrupt King or help Celaena.  He just could not make up his mind.   It was fantastic when he finally did.

While, Dorian was dealing with his magic.   I liked his relationship with Sorcha.   I really enjoyed how she accepted his magic and was there helping him through it.  Once he no longer trusted Chaol.  This was so upsetting.  They were such good friends in the past two books, it was a shame to see them not really talking anymore. Especially since they both wanted to share something with the other.  Dorian discovered the truth about Celaena,  which caused the feud between the friends.  It was hard to continue.  I was really glad he had Sorcha to help him.  I was devastated when the King killed her after everything she had done in this book, then seeing Dorian's reaction was heart breaking.

We also meet Aedion a cousin of Aelin and they were also childhood friends.  When we first meet Aedion, I was worrying that he was going to cause a lot to of trouble.  it finally turn out he is still loyal to Aelin.  It was sweet to see Aedion do everything he can think of to help Aelin.  I just can not wait until they are reunited.

It was great to see Aedion and Chaol teamed up.  I feel that this is exactly what Chaol need in helping he make his decision. Dorian needed a person to help control his magic.  Sorcha was a great no judgement help.

So, heir of fire is my favourite in the series, probably one of my favourite reads this year.  I can not wait till I get to the rest of the series.

I would give this book 5/5.

The Martian- Andy Weir

The Martian by Andy Weir
Released: August 27, 2015
Pages: 369
Buy it: Amazon | Book Despository
I thought this book was fantastic.  It was an exciting, fast paced and surprisingly a bunch of humour.  It was incredibly well researched but found the science a little hard to follow at times.

Mark Watney was sarcastic and I thought it was great being able to follow his story.  When I was not worried about what Watney was going to do next, I was laughing about comments he made.

Once I started I could not put it down.  I needed to know what would happen next.   I am really glad I picked it up.

In the end I gave the Martian 4.5/5.

I haven't seen the movie but am really looking forward to see it.  What did you think of the Martian? Did you enjoy the movie let us know in the comments below.
